This project involved designing a five-story extension for an existing university building. The existing structure, a simple modular brick building, provided the foundation with pre-built ceilings and columns.

The main challenges were harmonizing the new building with the existing one while making it more engaging with two vertical city center towers in the background.

University Extension – Design Concept

To respond the challenges, vertical lines were introduced into the new façade through brick, blue ceramics, and modular patterns. Careful attention to the connection points ensures the new volume integrates seamlessly with the existing university complex, and the double towers in the background, making the extension both functional and harmonious.

Planing Concept

The ceilings were already built when the project was received. The ground floor is dedicated to the university canteen (with food prepared externally), while the upper floors are used for offices and classrooms. Small terraces were added to bring greenery into selected spaces, enhancing atmosphere and space quality.
